I’m part of a Facebook group, called Friday Night. A group of men and woman who share recipes for Shabbat dinner and beyond.
When a good recipe is found, it spreads like wildfire. And the photos and posts that abound this week are all of a really yummy looking dessert, Apple Fritter Loaf.
So whats a girl to do? Jump on the bandwagon of course!

I Frankenstein-ed this recipe together from a half dozen recipes I googled and found on the Friday Night Facebook group.
- 4 apples, peeled and sliced into small chunks (I used green apples, you can use any you like)
- 3 tablespoons sugar (I used coconut sugar to try be a bit diabetic friendly)
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 3 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ⅔ cup sugar (used coconut sugar)
- ½ cup butter, softened (use margarine if you want parve)
- 3 eggs
- splash vanilla
- ⅓ cup milk (use almond or similar for parve)
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1 cup icing sugar
- 1-3 tablespoons milk (almond milk for parve)
-
Preheat the oven to 180°C and prepare 2 loaf pans.
-
Peel and dice apples and toss with sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
-
Add flour, baking powder, sugar and mix
-
Add butter, eggs, vanilla and milk. Mix well. The batter will be quite runny.
-
Mix the sugar and cinnamon together and set aside.
-
Pour a quarter of the batter into each of the loaf pans.
-
Place a quarter of the apple mixture into the pan.
-
Sprinkle a quarter of the cinnamon sugar over the apples n each pan.
-
Pour the remaining batter evenly over the apple and cinnamon layer.
-
Place the remaining apple and cinnamon sugar mixes over the batter.
-
Bake for 45-50 minutes.
-
While the loaves are baking, mix the icing sugar and milk.
-
The thicker you want the icing, the less milk you add.
-
Drizzle the icing over the loaves once they have cooled for 10-15 minutes
