Rainfall – A Book Review

I requested and received another book from Coral-Leigh to review last week. I was already in the middle of another book so I waited until the beginning of the week to start this one.

I requested another Melissa Delport book, Rainfall. Here is my review:

Twists and turns and a gripping story

I usually don’t like 1st person books. I find it difficult to immerse myself in them and it always takes me a while to get into the story and this was the case with this book too. That being said, the story itself drew me in. Its not something I have read before and I was thoroughly intrigued by the psychology of the main characters. Not just Adam and his D.I.D. (Dissociative Identity Disorder) but Paige too. I love her happy go lucky attitude and her total dedication to the man she loves.

As I continued reading and became more immersed in the story and the characters, clear favourites started to emerge (no pun intended). I love Adam and Paige and was rooting for them from the start. I just wanted to hug Jacob and smack Simon. And Kyle… Lets just say he will always have a place in my heart.

I had heard so much about this book before I started reading it. I knew there were twists and turns and that it would be something totally out there. I did manage to guess the big twist but even though I knew what was coming, I still held my breath and lets out a frustrated ‘Nooooooooooo, it cant be!!’ when I read it.

Grab a box of tissues, a glass of wine (or two) and set aside a weekend to read this book. You wont be disappointed.

The Cathedral of Cliffdale (Guardians of Summerfeld Book 1) – A Review

The amazing Coral-Leigh from Cupcake and Fysh has started a site where authors and readers can come together in a mutually beneficial environment. Readers get books and authors get reviews. Win/win right?

So my first book to review was Melissa Delport‘s The Cathedral of Cliffdale (Guardians of Summerfeld Book 1). It took me 2 days of reading and left me wanting more.

Here is the review I left on Amazon:

Werewolves and vampires and unicorns, oh my!

Let me just say, right off the bat, that I loved this book. I loved the characters and the utterly unique take on the fantasy genre.

Quinn is a Guardian who has lost her way, torn between her destiny and her family. The story takes us along with Quinn as she starts to reconcile the two parts of her life. Quinn is so completely relatable, she could be me. I followed her highs and lows with baited breath and I can’t wait to see how her story unfolds.

I am intrigued by all the characters Quinn interacts with and the relationships she has with them, her father, her mentor, an ex-lover and an unlikely friend. I can tell that not everyone is as they seem and I’m keen to see how each of these characters reveals their true selves to Quinn over the course of the story.

I’m really looking forward to reading the rest of this series and I hope that we get to see more of the wards of Summerfeld in the next book, the giants and the dwarves and the grumpy old troll.

The Professional – A Book Review

The Professional by Kresley Cole

the professional

Have you ever read a book and found yourself having to put it down because the intensity of the relationship between the characters is so intimate you feel the need to give them privacy?

That’s how I felt throughout this book.  The chemistry, both emotional and physical between Natalie and Sevastyan is so real and so raw that at times I felt like I was intruding on them.

The book is fast paced and there is never a dull moment.  I loved all the characters but I wish there had been a little more of some of the minor characters, I would have loved to have gotten to know a bit more about them.

If you like, romance, suspense and a bit of kink then buy and download The Professional.  I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Book reviews. Yay or Nay?

You are going to be seeing quite a few book reviews coming up.

My question though is this:

Do you want to see them here?  Or must I create a separate blog specifically for book reviews?

Please leave a comment for me.

Rocked – A Book Review

Music saved him, but now it’s keeping him from the only woman he craves…

Brawny bassist Deacon McCoy pulled himself up from nothing and is living the dream now that his band Oblivion is opening for his idols on their first tour. He’s frustrated at changes in the band’s management, but one thing takes all the tension away—his fascination with the deliciously cute tour chef, Harper Pruitt.

Born to roadie parents, Harper has has no patience for most rockstars’ love ’em and leave ’em ways. But when it comes to falling into Demon Deacon’s bed—or against the wall, or on the golf course in a rainstorm—she doesn’t seem to have any self-control.

Hot nights with a naughty, inventive rockstar are one thing, but more isn’t on the playlist. Until Deacon’s dream with his best friends starts turning into a nightmare, and Harper begins to see the real man behind the façade.

Except Harper has her own dreams to chase, even if what she’s started with Deacon might be the most important one of all.

My Review

A chef, a sexy musician, a tour bus, choc chip pop overs and a tattoo.  Sounds like the makings of a great book if you ask me.

I absolutely loved this NA (New Adult) rock story.  {Ms Elliot} and {Ms Quinn} take the reader on a wild ride, ups and downs, smooth and rocky, not only do we get to participate in the protagonists’ journey but the journey of the band too.  This isn’t just a love story between two characters, its the story of band mates who are friends who are a family, even if they don’t quite realise it.

Harper and Deacon are so good together.  Quick one liners and tender touches between page-smouldering intimacy is what you get when you read this book.  I almost didn’t want their story to end, the journey was too much fun.

I loved the behind the scenes aspects of this book, it wasn’t just concerts and parties, it was food trucks and sound checks and social media.  I cant wait to carry on reading the {Lost in Oblivion} series.

I do however wish that the authors had included the recipe for those choc chip pop overs, they sounded out of this world delicious!

**Even though this is the first book in the series, before reading {Rocked}, I would recommend reading the prequel, {Seduced}, as there are quite a few references to events that happened before Rocked.
