Skin – 3 weeks later

I’ve been a very bad blogger while I was away and the week since I’ve been back.  Things have just been sooooo hectic, in a good way 🙂

So while I work on the Cape Town and wedding post I thought I would update you on the skin issue.

Day: 55

Dosage: 30mg per day

Skin issues: The cyst that was opened and drained took about a week to calm down (I totally forgot to take any photos, sorry), it was, and still is,  a little red and tender but unless you look closely you cant really tell.  I think Im going to have a small scar where the dermo made the hole but Im fine with that.  The main issues I have at the moment are that the sides of my nose are still reddish but there have been no new cysts.

Side effects: My lips are extremely dry and chapped and I am trying many different balms to keep them moisturised.  My skin in general is dry but not as bad as I expected.

Improvement: No new cysts since being on the 10 day course of antibiotics and having the last cyst drained.

  1. I’m on my 3rd week of Roaccutane, and I’m battling with my lips!
What are you using? So far Blistex DCT is the only thing that seems to help a little bit.

For the body dryness, I’m using bio oil and bathing with Aqueous bath drops, so far so good.
How much longer are you on it for?

    1. Thats exactly what Ive been using, especially at night, but I try a bit of everything else that I can get my hands on too 🙂

  2. I meant to say on Friday that your skin is looking good!!
When I was on roaccutane, I found ‘elizabeth arden’s 8 hour cream’ worked well for lips. It is very ‘wet’ and slimy and shiny and u just need a tiny drop… I think its pretty pricey, I have a sample tube I got in a goodie bag about a month ago… I wish I had given it to u on friday!

  3. One of the things that got me was how my lips chapped and peeled even if I used a cream (can’t remember what I had). The best tip I got for my lips to get rid of the chapping and peeling was while brushing my teeth to gently brush my lips too. My lips were still dry but at least smooth.

Glad you’re starting to see an improvement 🙂

    1. Now that my skin seems to have settled down I am happy. I have another 2 months to go before we re-assess and see if I need more treatment but so far I think, yes, its definitely been worth it 🙂
