Made with love

My mom-in-law just came past to drop off a present for me.

Hilary does the most gorgeous embroidery work, she has made a fire screen, table runners, clocks, boxes, you name it she has embroidered it.  In fact she embroidered Aaron’s baby quilt. (I was sure I had a post with pictures but I cant find it so here is one).

Quite a while ago she asked me to choose a design that she would then embroider.  I chose a floral design and we looked at colours and then she got to work.

I watched as the flowers took shape and the colours came together and then she was finished and she sent it off to be set into a handmade wooden box.

Today she brought me the finished work.

The lid and base are lined in felt as is the bottom so it doesn't slide

I am so in love with this box, I am going to use it for my necklaces and other big jewelry.

Funny things Aaron says…

A few funnies 🙂

While talking to Nanna (my mom) on the phone…

Nanna: What are you doing?

Aaron: Driving mommy crazy!

At the dinner table on Friday night at Bobba (my mom-in-law)…

Aaron walks up with a plastic tea cup.

Aaron: You want tea?

Me: No thanks.

Aaron: You want tea!

It was definitely not a question!

With Uncle Matthew (my brother)…

Matt: Who is the best?

Aaron: Nanna!

Matt: And if I give you smarties? Who is the best?

Aaron: Uncle Maffew!

Kicking my arse!

Firstly let me just say that I am loving being pregnant.  I do not take this miracle for granted, not even for one moment!

But oh boy!  Compared to my pregnancy with Aaron this time round is like being run over with a bus.  And then having the bus reverse back over me!

With Aaron I never had one moment of tiredness, I could have partied until all hours every night.  In fact when other women said how tired they were, how they couldn’t stop yawning and were in bed at 8pm I secretly thought they were mad, or making it up.  I guess this is my wake up call, I am EXHAUSTED, I yawn from the moment I open my eyes to the moment I close them.  I cannot wait to get home in the afternoon so I can have a nap and then I am still in bed as early as possible and fast asleep before I can even say good night to Paul.

And the morning sickness… OMG!

With Aaron I was fine during the day, I came home at 5pm and between 5:30 and 6pm I threw up, once maybe twice and that was that.  Nothing else until the next night.  This time I am nauseous all day, one day I will be fine, the next I can throw up 6 times, the next only once.  It hits me at random times, sometimes as I wake up, sometimes it waits for mid morning, sometimes its every hour, sometimes its only at night.

Its gotten to the point that I called my OB and she recommended Emex, which helps most of the time but not always.  Hopefully it allows me some peace at work, because between the vomming and the tiredness I am really struggling to function.

There is an upside to all the symptoms Im having though… my boobs are huge!

I’ve already had to go up a cup size and they just keep getting bigger (and better), I actually have a real cleavage now, without even trying. 🙂

And of course the other very visible difference in this pregnancy is that I am showing already, have been since about 5 weeks or so.  Here are a few pics:

Aaron at 4 months
theSQL at 5 weeks... FIVE WEEKS!
And here is theSQL at just under 9 weeks 🙂

8… 8…

Laura posted a meme on her blog today and I am lifting it for my blog 🙂

The rules:

  • Go to your photo files, select the 8th photo folder.
  • Select the 8th photo in that folder.
  • Post that photo along with the story behind it.
  • Then challenge 8 blogging friends to do the same.

This is a photo of my  brother-in-law Asher with Aaron when he was about 6 or 7 months old.  Uncle Ash had come for a visit and some bonding time with his nephew 🙂

Im not going to tag anyone but feel free to lift this for your own blog 🙂

How to fall pregnant in 12 easy steps…

Step 1: Try to conceive for almost a year.  Don’t tell anyone except close family.

Step 2: Have multiple doctor appointments that include many scans and scripts for Clomid.

Step 3: Discover that your tubes are blocked.  Have a laparascopy to clear them.

Step 4: Try more Clomid.

Step 5: Come out the closet.

Step 6: Have a scan that shows you have no viable eggs and your lining is shit.

Step 7: Psych yourself up for maybe having to move from your doctor to a fertility specialist if your next cycle of double dose Clomid doesn’t work.

Step 8: Fill out many many application forms for procedures, medication and scans applicable to Infertility that may or may not be paid for out of the Prescribed Minimum Benefit. Send to medical aid for approval.

Step 9: Receive approval from the medical aid much to the astonishment of your doctor who told you medical aid would not pay for it.

Step 10: Wait for your period so you can start the next round of double dose Clomid.

Step 11: Pee on a stick the day your period is due.  Expect it to be negative

Step 12: Make sure you are sitting down when you take a look at the test and two lines show up!

—————————————————————————————————————————-

So, I wrote this post 4 weeks ago, when we first peed on that stick.  We didnt want to say anything until we had been for our first scan which was this morning!

Baby aka #theSQL, is perfect, measuring 7w5d and has a beautiful heartbeat of 144bpm.

Im already showing (have been since about 5 weeks!).  Im feeling ok-ish, started with morning sickness last week and it mostly hits me at night, Im also exhausted all the time, which I wasnt with Aaron at all.  Oh!  My boobs are already growing!  WooHoo for bigger boobs!

We are so so so over the moon, it still doesn’t really feel real…

How are we going to choose?

*This post has been coming for a week!*

Last Sunday we met Jenty (aka Jeanette) at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens for our much anticipated photo shoot.

We had so much fun.  It took Aaron a little while to warm up but once he had he was so into it.  He ran, jumped, threw leaves, demanded attention, took Jeanette’s hand and led her around and just had an absolute ball.

The sneak peek Jeannette put up on her blog is amazing, I can barely choose my favourites from those ones, how in heavens name am I supposed to choose from the full batch we will be getting?

A wedding post

A few people have asked to see photos from my wedding.  I cant in good conscience just give you pictures without a bit of the story.

Paul and I were married just over four years ago.  We got married in the same shul my parents were married in.

Since we had decided to get married on the 12th not the 14th of February we decided we didn’t want roses, not only would they be cliché but damn expensive!

We decided on daisies and because they are my favourite flower in any colour we decided that our decor would centre around a multitude of daisies in every colour and type we could lay our hands on.

I didn’t want the retinue to be multicoloured as I wanted them to stand out so I decided on grey.  Because my SIL lives in Australia I decided that the bridesmaids and mothers could wear any grey they wanted, they could buy off the rack or have it made, it could have another colour with it as long as the predominant colour was gray.  My boy BFF had to be on my side of the retinue so to differentiate him from the other guys he wore a grey shirt while they all wore white shirts and we had grey ties and yarmulkes made for them.

As an aside, despite living on opposite sides of the world and having absolutely no contact with each other, my BFF and my SIL managed to find two unique outfits in the exact same material and shade of grey!

My dress was made for me by the same women who made my mothers bridesmaids dresses 28 years before.  It was adapted from a picture I found.  In retrospect the only change I would make to it would be to have one button on the coat.

So without further waffling, here are some of my favourite pics!

Right here, smiling at each other... not likely, we were counting the steps 😉
This right here captures the mood of the day!

Goodbye, but not really, but kind of really…

My brother-in-law and his girlfriend are moving.

They are moving far away but not too far.

They are making the great trek to Cape Town!

Im really really going to miss them.  We see them every week.  We go to movies together.  We are family!

Im really really going to miss them.

But!

We have Skype, Twitter, Facebook and the good old telephone so we will be in touch all the time.

Did I mention Im really really going to miss them?

I am so happy for them, they are making a move for the better, better lifestyle, better jobs.

So, to Megs and Ash, good luck!  Have a safe journey.  Lets us know how the drive is going.  Think of us often.

Love you guys!

Photo Challenge – Friendship

This weeks challenge from Female2Female is a to post a picture of friendship.

Im often the one behind the camera and in fact am very camera shy.

The photo I picked is from my wedding, its Paul and me and our retinue just after the ceremony , the retinue was made up of friends and family and the funny thing is the ‘family’ are also friends and the ‘friends’ are also family, thats the only way I would have it.
