My first Vlog…

I hate hate hate being in front of a video camera.

It all started in Std 7 drama class.  I loved drama, I was actually pretty good at it.  Until the day we were given a random topic and told to create an advert/news clip for it.  Then we were asked to sit on the stage while the teacher pointed a video camera at us and the whole class watched.

I froze.  Dead.  Deader than dead.  I started to sweat.  I forgot my own name.  I felt dizzy.  My tummy was in knots.

I didnt take drama in Std 8…

The thought of doing this vlog left me feeling slightly nauseous and shaky and my tummy started knotting.  Then I remembered my resolution to push my bounderies and decided to just do it!

So, here it is, my very first (possibly my last) vlog.

Be gentle please.

Oh and Sass did one too!

5 things I’m tired of…

Marcia from 1, 2, 3, Blog asked us what 5 things we are tired of.  Since I havent done a meme in a while I thought I would do this one, just not sure I can stop at 5 things O_o

  1. Whiny children! I know Aaron is only 3 but Oh. My. Hat! He has lost the ability to talk and can only whine. It is driving me insane!
  2. Being vomited on.  Faith is still having reflux issues despite being on Losec.  The pead suggested going onto Nestergel or Thick and Easy to help settle her tummy before a feed.  Hopefully that works because having to change 3 or 4 times a day (both of us) is becoming old.
  3. Being hungry all the time.  Really I know I need more calories if Im breastfeeding but I can eat 2 lunches and 2 dinners and still be hungry… WTH?
  4. My car.  It is almost 12 years old and is starting to show its age.  It needs a service so badly it might just drive itself to the mechanic.  I really want a new car, a Honda Jazz would be great 🙂
  5. My neighbours.  They are so fracking loud.  At 10pm on a Sunday night you dont need to have a conversation at the top of your lungs in you driveway, which is right outside my bedroom window. No really, you dont!

So, what 5 things are you tired of?

How we met…

Timor of Love.Cybelle fame posted about how she met her boyfriend and asked us to share how we met our significant others so here goes…

Our story is a happy story that starts off sad.

Almost 10 years ago now, my father passed away from cancer.  My mother was put in touch with other widows through Hospice and an unofficial ‘Widows Group’ was created.  These women would get together for coffee or dinner and just talk and support each other.

About 2 years after my father passed away, Paul’s dad passed away from cancer too.  My mom in law became a part of the Windows Group and somewhere along the line she and my mom realised that they had eligible children and got it into their heads to set us up.

I had recently been through a few dud set up and internet dates and really had absolutely no interest in meeting Paul.

Paul told his mom she needed to find out when my birthdate was because if my star sign wasnt the right one then he wasnt taking me out.  Turns out Leo made the grade 😉

So he called me and we arranged to meet.  He told me that he had a beard and first thought was ‘Oh boy, I hope that doesnt mean he is super religious’.  We met up at JB’s in Melrose Arch for coffee after dinner one night and they eventually kicked us out when they had to close up.  We then spent a further hour or so sitting in the square talking.  I agreed to see him again a few days later.

On our third date he asked of he could kiss me, I told him that if he didnt I would have kissed him!

The rest is history 🙂

So, how did you meet your other half?

As an aside: Our wedding song is Thank You, Stars by Katie Melua, I think it a perfect tribute to the two men who ‘unofficially’ got us together 🙂

Some call it faith, some call it love
Some call it guidance from above
You are the reason we found ours
So thank you stars

Some people think it’s far away
Some know it’s with them everyday
You are the reason we found ours
So thank you stars

There are no winds that can blow it away on the air
When they try to blow it away ‘s when you know it will always be there

To some it’s the strength to be apart
To some it’s a feeling in the heart
And when you’re out there on your own, it’s the way back home

There are no winds that can blow it away on the air
When they try to blow it away ‘s when you know it will always be there

Some call it faith, some call it love
Some call it guidance from above
You are the reason we found ours
So thank you stars
Thank you stars
Thank you stars

Rock on dude!

I found this on Facebook and decided to do it on this here blog 🙂 I have changed a few things so that the photo I used is not a copy right image etc…

  1. ‎Go to Wikipedia and hit random article. The title of the first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
  2. Go to Quotationspage.com and hit random word. The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.
  3. Go to Random Word Generator. The word listed under “Random Verb” will be used as the search term in step 4.
  4. Go to FlickrCC and enter the verb from step 3 into the search box. The third picture on the top row that comes up (no matter what it is) will be your album cover.
  5. Use photoshop or similar (picnik is a free online photo editor) to put it all together.

* I have done something similar before, check it out here 🙂

Dinner Date

Megan posted this today and asked us who we would invite to dinner and who would cook.

Here goes…

  • Nelson Mandela (yes I know its a cliche but the man is an inspiration)
  • Sean Connery ( I could listen to that man talk for hours)
  • Princess Diana (I would love to hear her side of the story)
  • Albert Einstein (so he could explain to me, in baby talk, the theory of relativity)
  • My dad (I miss our conversations, also he would have come up with some great questions for my other guests)

As for who would cook, I think I would get take out, lots of different stuff, Chinese, Italian, Mediterranean, South African, sushi, shwarma, pizza, mezze, pap and gravy, hot dogs, borsht.  Why?  I think it would be interesting to see what my guests woud choose to eat 🙂

So, who would you have over for dinner and who would cook?

Day 10: 1 confession

Im doing a 10 day meme!

I tell myself stories in order to fall asleep.

They are usually Mills & Boon-ish type romance stories.

The hero, the heroine, I imagine the setting, what the characters are wearing, how they speak, where they are.

I usually fall asleep before anything interesting happens, which is probably why I can never put pen to paper and write a story out.

Part of this confession is that I would really really like to be able to put pen to paper and write out the stories in my head.

Day 07: 4 things that turn you off

Im doing a 10 day meme!

1. Picking your nose/scabs/zits in public. Gross! Dont do it!

2. Crotch adjusting. Seriously guys, I promise, it didnt fall off somewhere down the road, its still there, really really.

3. Being nasty about someone/something.  Dont gossip.

4. Me. Me. Me. Blah blah blah blah. Me. Show some interest in the person you are talking WITH.
