Day 08 → Someone who made your life hell, or treated you like shit

I seem to have missed a day, woops.  Oh well, today will be day 8 🙂

Sjoe… what a question… My mind immediately goes to this post.  But since writing that post I’ve actually let go of  it and moved on.

My next thought is that primary school was hell, I was teased mercilessly.  Not by just one person but by many.

I was always the smallest, shortest person and that made me an easy target.  I was also quite shy.  Some of the many names I was called were: shorty, small fry, midget.  I was also called flat face and lizard face, I broke my nose quite badly in Std 4/5 and as a result the bridge of my nose collapsed resulting in a very flat profile.  I only had my nose fixed when I turned 16 as this is supposedly the time that your face stops growing and changing.

I remember a specific incident of torment.  I was sitting in Math class behind a boy and a girl that I thought were friends.  They were telling rude jokes, one of them having a punchline involving BJ’s.  I laughed, it was a funny joke.  When they turned around they said I was laughing at nothing because I didn’t know what a BJ was.  Of course I did but being the shy type that I was I couldn’t bring myself to say the words Blow Job.  They never let me forget that and teased me daily about it.

From high school things changed, I moved to a new school in Std 6 and again in Std 7.  Dynamics changed.  Friendships were formed.  I grew a set.  I didnt let anyone bully me.  And I actually enjoyed high school.

Day 07 → Someone who has made your life worth living for

My husband and son.  I know it sounds cliche and maybe even a bit trite but after suffering from almost a year of post natal depression (and possible undiagnosed depression, relating to the death of my dad, before that), they are what kept me going.

In that year before being diagnosed with PND and going onto Cipralex, every time I thought about ending it, about how much easier it would be, not only for me but for everyone around me, I would stop and think to myself, but I need them, I need my husband and my son, I need the love that they give me.

They are what got me through the dark days and they are what made coming up from those downward spirals possible.

Their love for me and their unwavering support is what makes life worth living.

Bury a child.

I cannot even begin to comprehend the pain, misery and grief a parent goes through when they have to bury their child.  Whether that child was born sleeping, a toddler, a teenager or even a grown person with a family of their own, a parent should NEVER have to bury their child.

I pray that I never experience that heartache!

Day 05 → Something you hope to do in your life

I hope to travel.  More than that I hope to travel with our kids, as a family.

I want them to learn about different cultures and religions and places.  And I want us to learn as a family.

I don’t want to just go to the coast each year and waste an opportunity to learn and have fun and do something different.

Grief it sounds so corny but I really wish that this was the way we were raised.  I wish I had had the opportunity to travel more when I was younger, when my mind was more sponge like and less fossil like.

FFS! The first draft of this post got eaten by WP! * It makes me mad, now I’m pretty sure this post wont be nearly as good 🙁  Oh well, here goes…

This post has been sitting blank since 9am… I honestly cant think of a single thing anyone ha said or done that needs forgiveness.

The thing is that I cannot hold a grudge.  10 minutes after our argument I have forgotten what it was about.  I cant do silent treatment or bitchiness.

Im also always surprised that the other person is still angry with me.  I have to remember that some people need a bit more time.

I’m also very grateful that I have never had a fight with someone that would require a long term grudge to be held.

I have to forgive myself for wanting to run away sometimes.  Specifically when Aaron becomes too much and has an #AaronTantrum.

I always feel so guilty that I just want to leave the house and pretend that I am carefree and dont have a crying, screaming almost 3 year old to deal with.

I need to allow myself to feel that frustration guilt free.  I’m only human.  I have limitations.  I love my son to the end of the earth and back.   And its ok to feel like running away from it all sometimes.

Easier said than done but getting easier to forgive myself all the time.

Day 02 → Something you love about yourself

Its so much easier to come up with something that you hate about yourself than something you love about yourself.

After a lot of thought, one of the things I love about myself is my ability to blend in.  What I mean is that I may be in a crowd of strangers and I am still able to join in, to not just sit on the side lines.  I can find a common point and take it from there.

I am naturally shy (really I am) and get great big elephant sized butterflies in my tummy just thinking about meeting new people but once I’m in the situation I grab on with both hands, dive right in and mostly land on my feet.  I attribute this to the fact that I can find the common ground and blend myself right in.

Day 01 → Something you hate about yourself

I hate that I am too trusting.  And I hate that I hate that Im too trusting.

I take people at face value and often I get burned.

We should be able to take what people say as truth and yet people lie, cheat and manipulate.  What makes it worse is that I try my damnedest to be honest and open and I expect the same from others.  So when I find that I have been misled it hurts that much worse.

Im getting better at being able to read people and trusting my instincts but it makes me sad that I cant be trusting all the time.  That I have to work against my nature.  That I have to watch what I say and do in front of certain people.  Sometimes I hate that as much as I want to I cant be bitchy and nasty and deceptive right back at them.

I suppose that being trusting is not something that I should hate about myself.  Perhaps I should be embracing that part of me!
