Finally! Its only taken about 4 years!!

So in May we had been in our house for 4 years.  When we moved in I had grand plans for using the red feature wall in our dining room to hang family photos.  I blogged about it here, at the beginning of the year.

This weekend we finally managed to print, frame and hang 11 photos!  There are still more to come, I need more of the older family photos and also some more frames.  We also of course cant wait to add some photos of #theSQL 🙂

All done
Cant wait to add more!

Some of the older photos dont fit the frames properly so I am going to get some black cardboard or paper to put behind them so its not so obvious they are not quite right.  In the mean time though, I am so happy that they are finally up!!!

21 Weeks: Then and Now

So we are officially past the halfway mark.  Im excited and nervous all at the same time.  I cant wait to meet our little girl but Im nervous at how our family dynamic is going to change.  Aaron seems quite excited at the arrival of his sister and has already told me that he is going to share all his soft toys with her because “sharing is caring, mommy!”

I asked Paul to take some shots of the belly so I could show you a comparison between #theSQL at half way and Aaron at halfway and Aaron insisted on having his belly shot too…

Here is my belly at about half way with Aaron.

And here is my 21 week belly with #theSQL.

Another little known fact…

I am phobic about loose hair.

Particularly my own.

So long as it is attached to my head I have no issue with it.  In fact I LOVE my hair.  Its long and thick and looks amazing when I ghd it!

The minute there is a loose hair I start to gag.  Ask Paul.  I often ask him to ‘De-hair’ me after I have brushed my hair and I HATE washing my own hair cause loose hairs come out in the bath and I have to fish them out!  Paul also has to clean out my brush, I just. Cant. Do. It!

YUCH!!!! Just thinking about it makes me want to gag!!

I do try do these things myself as much as possible.  i try and conquer my phobia and my fear.  I dont look.  I do it as quick as possible.  I grit my teeth and try not to gag or vomit.

Most times I manage but there are times that I look at the brush or the bath or the hairs on my clothes and I just. Cant. Do. It!

I try not to make a big fuss in front of Aaron, ever since he was born, Ive really really tried but somewhere along the line he either saw me having an issue with hair or maybe its just genetic but my son cant stand loose hair either!  He gags, he says ‘yuchy mommy’ while holding that loose hair as far away from himself as possible.

I feel for him.  I really do.  Its a horrible horrible phobia/issue to have.   But a small part of me is just a little bit proud that my boy is just like his mommy!

Interesting facts from my blog stats…

I was playing around with my Blackberry WordPress app and found that the stats page had some very interesting facts (at least to  me) so I decided to list some of them here.

So, a number of (somewhat) interesting facts about my blog stats!

Aaron’s first haircut!

So some of you may know that we have been waiting for Aaron to turn 3 before he has a haircut.  This is called an Upsherin and it is not a Jewish law but more of a tradition.

My beautiful boy had the most beautiful white blond locks.

But having all the gorgeous hair has caused some issues.

He refuses to tie it up, so it gets in his eyes when he is playing.

He wont even clip it back.

When you pulled a shirt on or off him his hair got caught and pulled and he was sore.

The biggest issue was a huge matted knot at the back of his head.   This knot was almost impossible to wash and comb out, we tried everything!  It looked too hideous.

So we decided that it was time for a haircut.

We took Aaron to a salon in Benmore Centre where Maria, who specialises in kids hair cuts helped us out.

Here is a shot of HALF the knot that she cut off… the other half she had to brush out in order to cut his hair properly.

Aaron was so good during the haircut.  He never made a single peep! Just sat on my lap and let Maria cut his hair.  I was so proud of him!!  We did promise that he would go to the toy shop and he would get a prize if he was good.  He wanted a robot but we settled on a Play Doh set, with 4 different doughs, cutters, scissors, extruders and a nifty bag as well as a Buzz Lightyear water pistol.

As you all know Aaron throws spectacular tantrums dubbed #AaronTantrums.  We were really concerned he would have a meltdown since this was something completely new to him but my big boy proved us wrong and behaved like an absolute star.

Here is my big boy!  No longer my little baby 🙁  So so so proud of you my angel!

It’s Tech… It’s a Guide… It’s for Girls… It’s by Girls!

I was very honoured a few months back to be asked to participate in a fantastic and fun new project as a reviewer.

Girl Guides

Basically it is a guide to modern tech, written by girls for girls.

Everything from cell phones to laptops to media devices.

We review them, pick out the pros and cons and even give you a nifty how-to (coming soon) on the product.

Please pop on over and tell us what you think.  Remember, the site is still in Beta so all your comments and suggestions are very much welcome!

PINK!

OMW! We are having a girl!

We went for our 18 week scan this morning and there it was or wasn’t as the case may be 😉

With Aaron I could tell right away he was a boy, he was very proud to show off his bits!

This time I could see that there were no bits to show at all and once Dr D showed us the line that indicates a girl it was pretty clear that #theSQL is a #girlSQL 🙂

The Dr was using a new demo scanner, much fancier than her old one, way more high res and just a lot more spiffy.

It wasn’t connected to the DVD recorder but the rep is coming tomorrow and she will download the video to a new disc for us and my mom will pick it up and bring it to us.

In the mean time here are a few photos of our little girl.

I am so so so excited to be able to buy pink things and to start decorating the nursery…

7 months down the line… where am I?

Yesterday Beagle_Momma aka Tayna posted this about her New Years resolutions and how she was doing to date.  It has inspired me to do the same 🙂

I didnt really do a New Years post as such but in this post I made myself a few promises…

  • Be more adventurous – Im not sure I have done this, I think I need to do more, even if its just trying out new food every now and again.
  • Try new things – again, not so much… although I did try buy more colour for my wardrobe, I think it fizzled out after a month or two.
  • Push my boundaries – *sigh* Not. So. Much. *sigh*
  • I wanted a sister or brother for Aaron – This one is a resounding success! Tomorrow we find out if #theSQL is a boy or a girl 🙂
  • I wished to have more fun with Aaron and be more silly with him – I think this one has been a success… our favourite silly games are “the laughing game”, hide & seek, the hi-five pickle game* and light saber battles
  • No more procrastinating – I think im getting better at this but I have a long way to go.

All in all, I think I need to work a little harder to fulfill some of these ‘resolutions’ before the end of the year!

*the hi-five pickle game – My brother Matt taught Aaron this one: You ask Aaron for a hi-five, then a low-five, then you hold your index fingers together at the tips and ask him to cut the pickle by ‘slicing’ his hand through your finger tips, then you tickle… so, hi-five, low-five, cut the pickle, tickle tickle tickle… cracks him up every time…
