Its that time again! The iPhoneography exhibition!
I mentioned over {here} that I was going to enter some pics and I did and TWO got chosen!
Im so excited!
So why dont you come on over to the iStore on 31st October and take a look at over 200 images by instagramers from all over Jozi! Have some wine, some snacks, listen to some awesome live music. Some of the images will also be on sale (including mine) so bring your wallets too.
I attended the {Amway} Artistry launch of their new anti-ageing skin care range, {YouthXTend} last week.
I have to say, I didnt even know Amway had a makeup/skin care range until {FleishmanHillard} sent me a gorgeous lip gloss for mothers day.
I now have 2 lip glosses and a gorgeous red lipstick from the {Artistry range}.
Pretty red lips
And I was also totally spoiled with the Artistry YouthXTend Power System (Serum, Night cream, Day cream and Eye cream) at the launch.
Power System
So I decided to put it to the test. I asked Paul to take a good look at my face, the skin on my cheeks, T-zone and under my eyes. I asked him to feel each of these areas and to give me his honest opinion (I gave him a free pass, he could be as honest as he wanted and I wont hold it against him).
So…
Night 1:
Before using the products
Paul: Skin feels and looks ‘normal’, no noticeable issues.
Gina: I feel like my skin is ok, slightly dry. Skin under my eyes is ‘fragile’.
After using the products
Paul: Feels like I put cream on (typical man)
Gina: Skin feels soft, Serum absorbed quickly. You really only need one little squirt, the product will last a long time! The night cream didnt absorb as quickly and I could have used a bit less but it is soft and smells divine. I used a tiny spot of eye cream. It absorbed quickly and wasnt greasy at all, which I feared.
Serum Concentrate
Day 3:
Paul: ‘It feels soft, but it felt soft to start with’ – On touching my face. Im beginning to think asking a man to take part in this experiment wanst such a hot idea.
Gina: I looked in the mirror this morning, specifically at the lines around my eyes and guess what? They look like they are disappearing! Honestly. My crows feet are one of three areas on my face that show definite signs of ageing. The other two are my forehead (I once asked Aaron to wash his forehead, he asked me what that was, I pointed at his head, he then looked at me, pointed at my forehead and said, ‘oh, the wavy lines’…) and my dimples. So, I was looking at my crows feet and its totally noticeable that they are not as deep as before. Yay!!!!
Eye cream
Night 7:
Paul: I’ve given up asking him!
Gina: My skin is soft and smooth. I’ve had no adverse reaction at all to any of the products. I really love the Power System and the Youth XTend range. The creams are light, absorb easily and smell divine. The Serum is magnificent and all of the products will last me for ages, you really only need a small drop of each.
Yummy Day Cream with an SPF of 15!
My verdict:Go get yourself the Power System. Im decanting small portions of each product to take with me to Israel next week. No way am I going two weeks without my Youth XTend.
I was surrounded by gorgeous, tall, leggy and utterly delightful models!
I was invited to attend a media launch for {#Veet} today.
It was held at the magnificent {Life Day Spa} in Fourways (I had to leave before I could have my treatment but let me tell you I will be going back there, it looked amazing!)
We were introduced to the Veet brand by Bevan Lewis, Marketing Manager at Reckitt Benckiser. He told us a few facts about Veet.
They have been around for over 80 (!) years
Over 30 million women (and men) across the world use Veet products
Veet is the number ONE brand in hair removal!
Then he introduced us to the new brand ambassador – Melinda Bam!
The gorgeous Melinda even makes an iPhone pic look professional!!
We booked the cheap seats. Up in the mezzanine, they were literally cushions on the floor where the seats usually are (they took out the seats to put them on the stage).
So he could move around and he could still see everything.
I figured I would let him tell you about his experience in his own words.
What did you think of the theatre? It is big.
What did you like most about the show? The beginning, where they all come out and have flags and stuff.
Who was your favourite character?Rusty.(mine too kiddo)
Who did you want to win the big race?Rusty. And he did. I told you mom.
What was the most fun part?Getting autographs afterwards.
Do you want to say anything else?Yes, can I have roller skates for my birthday?
So, there you have it. Aaron was pretty impressed with the theatre. He is definitely keen to go again. I told him I will take him to see Aladdin, the end of year {panto}!
On Wednesday I attended the warm up session for #StarlightExpressSA at Joburg Theatre.
I just have to say, these guys are amazing. An hour warmup on skates followed by a two hour show. Thee guys are animals. I was tired just watching them!
Warm up consisted of physical warm up as well as a vocal warm up.
Here are some pics.
We followed warmup with another performance. It’s the second time I’ve seen the actual production. Janice has made a few small changes and the performance has only benefited. If you haven’t seen the show yet I urge you to go see it. Only one more week left!
**I have not been paid for this post nor have I even tried the products, this is just my opinion**
I was mucking about on the internet when I came across two sites/products that I wish had been around when I was younger*.
The first is {HelloFlo}, a service, that delivers on a monthly basis, a care package of tampons, pads and sweeties (cause who needs sweeties more than a premenstrual woman? No one, that’s who!) , tailor made to your needs.
The package is discreet and is sent to you 5 days before you will need it.
For someone like me who is very forgetful and pretty much always landed up going to the late night chemist at the last minute this would have been amazing!
One of the packages I like is for a mom (or dad) to get for their daughter before her first period, a {Period Starter Kit} that includes, tampons, pads, two booklets for mom and daughter, sweets and a Feby bracelet.
Unfortunately they don’t deliver outside of the USA 🙁
The other product is the {Feby} bracelet I mentioned above.
I bracelet made up of coloured wooden beads that represent the days in your cycle. You dont have to wear the bracelet, just use it to keep track of your cycle by moving the knot in the string to the left of the relevant bead.
The beads are red (your period), white (regular days), pink (ovulation) and black (possible PMS days).
So with just a quick glance you can tell why you feel like stabbing your colleague with a letter opener.
I cant see on the site if they deliver overseas but I have asked them. They do deliver worldwide!
Ultimately both these products would have been a welcome addition to my younger years*.
* I say younger, since at the moment I dont get a period thanks to my {Mirena} 😉
A little while ago I got an email from Lori at {FLD Products}. She wanted to introduce me to their product range and to see if we could collaborate.
What struck me first about them is that instead of just sending me a press release they asked to meet me in person, which made me very keen to meet with them.
So on Monday I met up with Lori and her co-founder Jonathan and they took me through the range and explained how they came to be, how they work, the manufacturing process, basically all about these nifty bags and sleeves.
I mentioned that I was getting the new iPad Mini to take with me to Israel and they offered me a beautiful pink sleeve, its the newest item in their product range and not only does it fit the iPad Mini but it also fits the Samsung Galaxy Note II and the Google Nexus 7.
Its one of the things I love about the range, its versatile! My mom, who has the Samsung, was eyeing out my cover yesterday for her device. Good thing its her birthday next month 😉
The other thing I love about the sleeve is the material. Its padded quite thickly but light. Thick enough to protect my iPad (I’m a terrible klutz when it comes to dropping my devices) but light enough to not add any significant weight to the device when its in my hand bag.
I also love the fact the inside is made of a micro fibre that cleans the device as you insert or extract it and also protects from scratches.
The only downside I have, is that once I remove the device its unprotected (remember my klutz tendencies) and Im not sure that the sleeve is big enough to fit the device if it has a protective case on it.
Both the sleeves and the bags have extra pockets and spaces to keep, phones, cables, mice, pens and anything else you might need with you.
Overall I love the sleeve and Im keen on getting a laptop bag too for my Air, as soon as I am back from Israel.
So now comes the part where you can win!
Take a look at the FLD Products {web page} then follow the prompts below in the Rafflecopter widget.
The competition closes at midnight on 31 July 2013 and I will notify the winner by email and on the blog. FLD Products will deliver the prize directly to the winner. Competition only open to those living in South Africa.
What a privilege to be a part of the #StarlightExpressSA journey. I cannot tell you how amazing its been to see this production come together.
Yesterday I attended a rehearsal on the main stage. A stage that has been especially designed and built for the production by James Macnamara. From ‘on-stage’ seating, to ramps and revolving parts. Everything is brand spanking new and clearly a labour of love.
Lights, Stage, Action
Yesterday was also the lighting designers turn to start making magic. And Declan Randall is truly a magician. The lights are almost their own character. It was so special to watch this part of the production happen.

Apart from all the technical wizardry happening yesterday, the cast and crew were making last minute changes to choreography and direction. I love getting this behind the scenes look. The cast has truly become a family.
David Schlachter aka Rusty, contemplating one of the ramps
The highlight of my visit yesterday was seeing the two boys playing Control interact with each other. Joshua Moreira and Ziya Devar are 10 years old and the youngest cast members. It was fun watching them just be kids together in between scenes. Thats not to say they are not serious actors. These kids will blow your minds. Two more confident and talented youngsters you wont find very easily!

Watching rehearsal yesterday, I realised just how close we are to opening a 9 week run of this MEGA musical. If you havent already, I suggest you give the Joburg Theatre a call (0861 670 670) or hop on over to their {website} to book your tickets. This production is pure magic for the whole family. I cant wait to take Aaron to see it.
